Five star Auburn transfer QB commits to Ole Miss

Deuce Knight immediately brings some legit credentials to the QB room

Pete Golding may have the answer to one of the questions facing Ole Miss football next season at the quarterback position with the commitment of Auburn transfer Deuce Knight.

Knight, a five star prospect out of high school, is a native of Lucedale, Miss. standing at 6’4” 217 lbs., and he played in a limited role this past season at Auburn. In two games, he went 17/25 passing for 259 yards and two passing touchdowns, but where he was eye popping on film was his ability to run with 13 carries for 178 yards and four touchdowns.

Ole Miss lost its back-up quarterback of 2025 to the portal as Austin Simmons left for Missouri. The football program is reportedly appealing an NCAA decision to deny further eligibility to Trinidad Chambliss, but the outcome there could take some significant time to have a resolution.

Even if Chambliss comes back, there is still a need for another quality quarterback option, and Knight easily fills that void. But let’s all be honest with ourselves it is likely a long shot Chambliss is ever back in red and blue without some legal intervention, so Knight could absolutely be in the competition for a starting QB job in 2026.

This is a MASSIVE commitment for the Rebels going forward. Knight has four years of eligibility remaining, and he brings a dual threat ability to a John David Baker offense that is expected to be up tempo and require a lot of ability from the QB position.

Knight is the 12th commitment from the portal for Golding and his staff, and Ole Miss is currently ranked No. 4 nationally in the transfer portal.
