Bill Belichick sparks UNC football frenzy as all tickets sell out pre-season.
Belichick Bump? UNC Football Tickets Sell Out Before First Snap originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Bill Belichick hasn’t even coached a single game in Chapel Hill, but the Belichick Bump is already very real.
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, North Carolina football has officially sold out its entire allotment of tickets for the upcoming 2025 season. Season tickets were already gone in the spring despite a 25% price increase, and now every single individual ticket is off the market too.
That’s a full house for every home game at Kenan Memorial Stadium before the first snap of Belichick’s debut season in Chapel Hill.
The legendary former New England Patriots head coach stunned the football world earlier this year when, just months after announcing his NFL retirement, he agreed to take the reins at UNC.

After more than two decades and six Super Bowl titles in Foxborough, no one expected the next chapter of Belichick’s career to unfold in the ACC. Yet here he is, donning Carolina blue and generating the kind of buzz UNC football hasn’t seen in decades.
To put it in perspective, UNC has long been known as a basketball school. Even during Mack Brown's resurgence years, sellouts were rare, and football hype often took a backseat to hoops.
But the arrival of Belichick, a Hall of Fame-bound coaching icon with ties to legendary names like Tom Brady, Bill Parcells and Nick Saban, has completely transformed the program’s national visibility.
Recruiting has already seen a boost (ranked 29th in 2025 and improved to 17th in 2026). TV networks are adding marquee games. And now, the ticket office has been cleared out before the Tar Heels even run out of the tunnel.
Whether Belichick’s defensive wizardry translates to college football success remains to be seen. But one thing is already certain: Tar Heels football is no longer an afterthought. The Belichick era has officially begun, and Chapel Hill is all in.
