Knicks could land former All-Star free agent to pair with Karl-Anthony Towns in frontcourt

New York might have a chance to add a big name.

The New York Knicks could still sign another key free agent, and their perfect target could be an under-the-radar addition.

Over the past few years, the Knicks have slowly ascended to the top of the Eastern Conference. With some significant additions in that time period, the Knicks now view themselves as one of the top contenders in the league.

Competing for a championship is no easy task, as demonstrated by the Knicks’ collapse in the conference finals just a couple of months ago. Still, the Knicks are in a great position to make another deep run in 2026 and maybe make their first NBA Finals since 1999.

With so many interesting possibilities for New York to cap its offseason, adding one more key free agent seems to be in the cards. With so many veterans on the market, it can be difficult to decide who to target.

One potential name for the Knicks is Kevin Love. The former All-Star big man is looking for his next NBA home after spending the past few seasons in Miami.

NBA insider Jake Fischer recently noted that Love is only interested in the “big glamour markets,” citing Los Angeles and New York as some possible options. While reuniting with LeBron James in Los Angeles would be on the table, the Knicks might make the best basketball fit.

Considering how the Knicks found some success with two bigs last postseason, they’ve already added Guerschon Yabusele, and Love could be yet another key addition to that big man room. With Mitchell Robinson’s injury history and Karl-Anthony Towns’ well-known fouling issues, having another capable big man could save the Knicks at some point next season.
