Staying healthy and suiting up for every game is everything to an athlete. It’s what keeps the rhythm going, the confidence high and the momentum alive. But injuries? They’re the cruel part of the game, always lurking, always unpredictable. After an electric rookie season that had the league buzzing, Caitlin Clark has experienced a different story in her second year.

Nagging injuries and time off the court have started to take a toll and now, she has made a candid, and honestly pretty tough, admission that sheds light on just how much it has been weighing on the Indiana Fever star.

In a recent interview with Glamour, Clark shared her thoughts on injuries piling up and how that has changed her perspective on fitness as an athlete. She said, “This is the first time I haven’t felt like a young body that can run around and sprint every day and just continue to do that. Being a professional athlete, you really have to take care of both your body and your mind. It's been a journey learning about that.”

Caitlin Clark has had a rough go this season, now sidelined with her third soft tissue injury. This time it’s her right groin. It is unfamiliar territory for her, considering she hadn’t missed a single game due to injury since high school prior to this summer.

She’s throwing everything at her recovery: red light therapy, dry needling, hyperbaric chambers, you name it. She even joined the Fever in New York to consult more doctors.

The Fever haven’t given a return date yet, but they’re clearly hoping this will be her final stint on the injury list. Clark has only played 13 games so far, and while her numbers are still solid, her shooting has taken a serious dip, especially on the road.

Still, the Fever are noticeably better when she’s on the court. With playoff hopes hanging in the balance, her return can’t come soon enough.
