Jeff Brohm and his staff picked up a big local commitment from Allen Evans out of Trinity High School. Evans is ranked as the second-best player in the state of Kentucky, as well as being the 10th-ranked cornerback in the nation for 2027. Louisville cornerbacks coach Steve Ellis is credited as his primary recruiter. Evans holds offers from Alabama, Penn State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Missouri, Vandy, Tennessee, and others.
Ellis has a type, and Evans fits right into what he wants in a cornerback. Evans is 6-2/190 with long arms, and he is physical in coverage and against the run. His coverage skills show up immediately in his highlights as he uses his length and height to wall off receivers in man coverage. He also does really well with running guys into the sideline without committing pass interference.
The Cards will have some depth chart openings, with the top of the depth chart being full of seniors. We’ll have to see what the portal additions look like in a year, but Evans projects as a player who can see the field early. He does an outstanding job diagnosing plays and routes, and his physical size will help him translate more quickly to the next level. Louisville landed a really good one today.
