Caitlin Clark skips reality TV hype, prioritizes calm, sleep and mental wellness instead.
"Too Cringe for Me": Caitlin Clark Avoids Hype Train Unlike Fellow WNBA Stars originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Caitlin Clark may be one of the most talked-about athletes in the WNBA, but when it comes to jumping on pop culture hype trains, she’d rather sit this one out, especially if that train is "Love Island."
“I watched the first episode but couldn’t get into it,” Clark said during a Glamour x Eli Lilly event at WNBA All-Star Weekend. “Maybe it was too cringe for me? And it takes a lot of time; there’s a new episode like every single day! I just couldn’t do it.”
While fellow WNBA stars like Angel Reese and Cameron Brink have shown love for the dating show, Clark prefers a more low-key approach to relaxation. Her go-to de-stressors? Rewatching "The Parent Trap," playing golf and sleeping, lots of it.
“There’s no better rest and recovery than just straight-up sleeping,” she said. She also leans into journaling and finds comfort in silence or calming music before games, rather than relying on high-energy playlists to pump herself up.

Clark shared these personal insights while promoting breast cancer awareness with Glamour and Lilly, sponsors of her team, the Indiana Fever.
The event highlighted wellness both on and off the court, reminding attendees about the importance of early detection with a stat Clark helped amplify: breast cancer caught early has up to a 99% survival rate.
Even as the spotlight on Clark grows, her ability to stay grounded sets her apart. She’s proof that staying true to yourself, cringe-free reality TV and all, can be its own kind of power move.
Whether it’s dodging drama or dodging defenders, Caitlin Clark’s calm confidence continues to define her path.
