The Bundesliga’s return has been disrupted by winter storms running through Europe. There have already been several games postponed, and there is potential for more if things get worse overnight, so we’re looking at a reduced schedule this weekend. But unlike those soft continentals I am prepared to weather the storm and put in a shift, so your Fear the Wall content will survive the blizzard.

I do miss the old snow games I grew up watching. They were so silly. A bunch of grown adults shivering and running around in the snow trying to kick an orange ball that is barely able to roll. I understand why the modern game opts to postpone matches instead of braving the snow. Not only are the conditions potentially dangerous for the players, it presents a ton of problems for fans travelling to games. It’s safer for all involved to just not bother. But I still miss it.

Here is this weekend’s Bundesliga schedule (at time of writing):

Friday:

  • Eintracht Frankfurt vs Borussia Dortmund

Saturday:

  • Heidenheim vs FC Köln
  • Freiburg vs Hamburger SV
  • St. Pauli vs RB Leipzig
  • Union Berlin vs Mainz
  • Werder Bremen vs Hoffenheim
  • Bayer Leverkusen vs VfB Stuttgart

Sunday:

  • Borussia Mönchengladbach vs Augsburg
  • Bayern Munich vs Wolfsburg

The same rules apply as the BVB match threads, though I’m hoping tempers are less likely to flare in these threads. But as a reminder, here are the match thread rules:

  1. Exercise common sense. We allow profanity, adult humor, and other forms of crudeness within reason, but of course there are lines. Hateful language will not be tolerated. Exceptionally violent language (especially directed at specific people) will not be tolerated. Before you type, ask yourself, “Would I have a reasonable expectation of being thrown out of a bar in an average city if I said something like this?”
  2. Be respectful. There will definitely be times when everyone is upset and disagreements get heated, and that’s fine, but remember that we’re all rooting for the same team. Keep arguments based on substance and not personal insults.
  3. No sharing illegal streams. NONE. Zero tolerance.
  4. No spam. I have no interest in whatever crypto scheme you’re shilling. You will be banned.

Enjoy the game! Heja BVB!
