Liverpool Sign Young Defender Mor Talla Ndiaye

Ndiaye will join the Academy ranks

Liverpool have today completed the signing of Mor Talla Ndiaye from Senegalese second tier side Amitie FC, though the signing remains subject to international clearance. Ndiaye is newly 18 and will begin his training on Merseyside with the U21 level.

Ndiaye, himself a Senegalese youth international, is primarily a central defender, and he played for his country at the FIFA U17 World Cup in November 2025.

He’s a strong target for Liverpool, as he statistically reads as a smart and front-footed central defender, looking not just to keep possession but to progress the ball. Though it is hard to compare his nascent skillset internationally without access or knowledge of the Senegalese second tier, his showing at the U17 World Cup impressed in a number of areas: he had the most passes of all centerbacks in the tournament (83 per 90) and had a 91% completion rate on these. Further, he averaged the most forward passes per 90 (35.65) and made 17 progressive passes per 90: numbers that underscore his attacking orientation.

He pairs this attacking mindset with adept defense, able to cover a lot of ground to make interceptions and position himself well for duels. Though he could improve aerially, his football intelligence that so helps him in his passing range also helps him position himself well in predicting where the ball will end up.

While the youngster will obviously seek to improve in a number of areas as he matures, Liverpool look to have signed a player of high initial quality at a good age.
