Leeds United Under-21s make their long-awaited return to Premier League 2 action, facing Reading Under-21s away from home on Saturday lunchtime.

Scott Gardner’s side haven’t featured on league duties since the start of November, where they fell to a narrow defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest despite Harry Gray’s eighth goal in all competitions until that point.

The striker then followed that up with a brace in the Whites’ final Vertu Trophy fixture against Accrington Stanley, before Leeds faced Gateshead and Borussia Dortmund II.

An Ollie Pickles double helped United to a 3-0 National League Cup victory on Tyneside before a youthful team were beaten by a very experienced Dortmund outfit on European duties.

Gardner’s team have collected 11 points from their opening eight PL2 fixtures this term to sit 17th in the standings, eight clear of bottom-placed Reading.

The Royals, meanwhile, are without a win this campaign and go into Saturday’s encounter having lost four of their previous five fixtures.

The teams most recently met back in 2023, though it was the Berkshire side that came out on top in a 3-2 win at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

Action from Bearwood Park Training Ground gets underway at 12pm.
