Michigan lost another member of its secondary on Thursday night, as sophomore Jayden Sanders is entering the transfer portal:
Michigan appears to be losing another one of the promising underclassmen from its secondary, as sophomore cornerback Jayden Sanders is entering the transfer portal, according to Pete Nakos of On3.
Sanders’ loss could prove to be a big one for Michigan, as depth in Michigan’s secondary has thinned out a bit over the last week. Fellow sophomores Jordan Young and Elijah Dotson also entered the transfer portal, while senior cornerback Jyaire Hill has yet to confirm that he’ll be coming back for his senior year.
Sanders originally joined the program in 2025. He played his high school ball at Kilgore High School in Kilgore, Texas, and was ranked as the No. 229 overall player and No. 31 player in the state of Texas according to the 247Sports composite in the class of 2025.
He was a quick riser in the program after having an impressive fall camp. Sanders made starts early in the year against Central Michigan and Nebraska – earning Michigan’s defensive player of the week honors against the Cornhuskers. He appeared in all 13 games and made 23 tackles while breaking up one pass.
All of a sudden, Michigan will have to look a bit harder at the defensive backs in the portal to help round out the roster for 2026.
