NHL Rumors: 3 Bruins Potential Trade Candidates For 2025-26

The Boston Bruins completely changed up their roster at the 2025 NHL trade deadline, as they moved on from several notable players. Among the players traded by the Bruins before the deadline passed were Brad Marchand, Brandon Carlo, Charlie Coyle, and Trent Frederic. With this, the Bruins fully began their retooling period, and it is fair to wonder if more changes could be on the way next season.

If the Bruins have another poor season during the 2025-26 campaign, it certainly could open the door for them to trade away more of the players on their current roster. The possibility of them switching up their roster before next season begins should also not be ruled out, as there is still a good chunk of time before training camp gets here.

Because of this, let's look at three potential Bruins trade candidates heading into the 2025-26 season.

Joonas Korpisalo

When looking at the Bruins' roster, goaltender Joonas Korpisalo may be the team's biggest trade candidate. The 31-year-old has been the subject of trade rumors all off-season, and the Bruins have a promising young goalie in Michael DiPietro who has the potential to be a solid and much cheaper replacement for Boston's backup role.

However, there are certainly some obstacles when it comes to a potential Korpisalo trade. Korpisalo's $3 million cap hit until the end of the 2027-28 season is not cheap, and he also had a shaky first season with the Bruins. In 27 games with the Original Six club in 2024-25, he posted an 11-10-3 record, a 2.90 goals-against average, and a .893 save percentage.

However, with this year's top unrestricted free agent (UFA) goalies now being signed, it is fair to wonder if Korpisalo could get some attention from teams who are looking for help between the pipes. Yet, if there is no interest during the off-season, that could change if he bounces back next season for Boston. Nevertheless, with the Bruins having DiPietro waiting in the wings, it is fair to wonder what will happen with Korpisalo moving forward.

Andrew Peeke

If the Bruins find themselves out of the playoff race again at next year's trade deadline, defenseman Andrew Peeke will certainly be a player to watch. He is a pending unrestricted free agent (UFA), so he could be a popular target for contenders at the deadline if he does not sign a contract extension by then.

While Peeke is not the flashiest of players on the Bruins' roster, the potential for him to garner trade interest is undoubtedly there. Playoff teams are always on the hunt for big right-shot defenseman, and Peeke is exactly that. Thus, the Florida native would have the potential to get the Bruins a decent return in a potential swap if they moved him.

Peeke played in 76 games this past season with the Bruins, where he recorded one goal, 16 assists, 17 points, 105 hits, and 126 blocks. Overall, the 2016 second-round pick is simply a steady shutdown defenseman, and there could be some interest in him next season because of it.

However, if Peeke puts together a solid season next year, the possibility of the Bruins signing him to a contract extension should not be ruled out. He is right in his prime at 27 years old, so he could be a good player to keep around at the right price.

Pavel Zacha

Trade rumors have been surrounding Pavel Zacha since the past trade deadline, and it has only carried over to this summer. Teams reportedly being interested in him is not particularly surprising, as he has been a solid top-six forward for the Bruins in each of the last three seasons. Thus, he could be a strong addition for a team that needs help at the center position.

During this past season with the Bruins, Zacha posted 14 goals, 33 assists, and 47 points in 82 games. Overall, it was a solid season from the 2015 first-round pick, but he has also shown in the past that he is capable of producing more offense. Just back in 2023-24, he posted 21 goals and 59 points in 78 games with the Bruins. This was after he had 21 goals and 57 points in 82 contests during his first campaign with the Bruins in 2022-23. With numbers like these, he would be a strong pickup for a team looking to boost their forward group.

While Zacha has been the subject of trade speculation, there are certainly clear reasons why they should keep him. As noted above, he is an important part of their forward group, as he has consistently been one of their top offensive contributors. Furthermore, he has a good contract, as he carries an affordable $4.75 million cap hit until the end of the 2026-27 campaign.

Yet, if the Bruins want to continue to shake up their roster, Zacha could be a player to keep an eye on. He undoubtedly possesses a good amount of trade and could the Bruins a strong return in a possible trade.

The Bruins are hoping to be more competitive in 2025-26, especially after a busy off-season that saw them focus on improving their depth.
