Parma Vs Inter Milan – Chivu Wants His Side Fully Focused On Tonight’s Match: “When You Start Planning Ahead, You Get Caught Out”

Inter Milan head coach Cristian Chivu claimed his side won’t think about the upcoming clash against Napoli ahead of tonight’s game at Parma.

Speaking to DAZN via FCInterNews, the 45-year-old urged his side to take one step at a time.

The Nerazzurri saw off Bologna on Sunday, extending their winning streak in Serie A to five matches.

As such, they sit at the top of the standings, a point clear of second-placed AC Milan and two ahead of reigning holders Napoli.

Meanwhile, this is a special occasion for Cristian Chivu, who returns to his old stomping ground as an opponent.

Indeed, the Romanian coach was in charge of Parma in the second half of last season, helping them maintain their top-flight status.

However, he must set his feelings aside, with Inter looking to win their first away game of 2026.

Furthermore, the San Siro giants will be out to preserve their unbeaten Serie A run at the Ennio Tardini, which dates back to 2014.

“Everyone has to be involved and show their quality and what they can bring to this team,” he said.

“We only had two days to prepare for this match, so you’re inevitably forced to make changes. Everyone deserves to start.”

Asked what kind of match Inter can expect tonight, he replied: “An intense one.

“We won’t change our mentality or our desire to contest duels and press high. It will require the right reading of situations.

“Today they have five players in midfield, so we need to go into the duels with conviction and courage.”

Meanwhile, Inter will face Napoli on Sunday, but Chivu is only interested in tonight’s clash.

“We’re about to play, and we have to focus entirely on this match.

“When you start planning ahead, you often end up paying the price where you least expect it.”
