Mizuno JPX ONE fairway woods focus on speed and playability

Mizuno’s JPX ONE fairway woods use a refined CORTECH Chamber and new sole design to help golfers maintain ball speed and launch from varied lies.

Gear: Mizuno JPX ONE fairway woods

Price: $349 each

Specs: Stainless chassis with MAS1C variable-thickness face, re-engineered CORTECH Chamber, wrap-around composite crown, and Speed Bevel sole design.

Who it’s for: Golfers looking for easy launch, consistent ball speed, and reliable performance from a variety of lies, without giving up a clean, confidence-inspiring shape

What you should know: The JPX ONE fairway woods extend the performance DNA of Mizuno’s most ambitious metalwood launch, focusing on face flexibility, lower center of gravity, and improved turf interaction to deliver speed and forgiveness from both the tee and the fairway.

The Deep Dive: There’s always been a quiet expectation placed on fairway woods. They need to be fast, yes, but they also need to work from imperfect lies, uneven stances, and tight turf. With the JPX ONE fairway woods, Mizuno leaned into that reality rather than chasing a single launch-monitor headline.

At the core of the design is a re-engineered CORTECH Chamber, an internal structure that sits in the sole, just behind the leading edge. The chamber combines a dense stainless-steel weight that is encased in a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) piece. It allows the lower portion of the face to flex more efficiently while also managing vibration at impact. As the face deflects, the TPU helps absorb unwanted harshness, while the stainless-steel bar’s momentum pushes it forward, effectively creating an additional energy source. In the JPX ONE fairway woods, Mizuno has refined the geometry of that chamber and shifted it closer to the face, which the company claims will help maintain ball speed across a wider portion of the hitting area, particularly on strikes low on the face or toward the toe and heel. The result is more consistent speed and carry without changing the look or feel golfers expect from a Mizuno fairway wood.

The variable-thickness, MAS1C steel face is designed to protect ball speed on off-center hits.

The variable-thickness, MAS1C steel face is designed to optimize launch and spin, while the top of the club features a wrap-around composite crown that removes mass from the upper portion of the head and redistributes it lower in the structure. The result is a lower center of gravity (CG) that promotes higher launch and reduced spin, particularly useful for shots hit directly from the turf.

Speaking of turf, Mizuno designed the JPX ONE fairway woods with an all-new Speed Bevel sole that rises in the back, helping the club move more cleanly through impact to improve consistency from fairway lies, light rough, and uneven conditions.

The JPX ONE fairway woods are available in lofts ranging from 15 degrees to 24 degrees, and with an adjustable hosel that allows golfers and fitters to increase or decrease the stated loft by up to 2.25 degrees, there should be a club that can fill distance gaps appropriately for nearly every golfer.
