“There’s Frustration”: Lexie Hull Speaks Candidly on Caitlin Clark’s State of Mind Amid Injury Setback

This is tough to hear.

Caitlin Clark is out of action again for the Indiana Fever’s game against the New York Liberty on Tuesday night. This will be the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year’s second consecutive contest on the sidelines after she suffered a right groin injury in Indiana’s 85-77 win over the Connecticut Sun on July 15.

Before Tuesday's clash, Fever guard Lexie Hull was asked about Clark’s current mindset amid her most recent injury setback. Hull spoke candidly as she shed light on how her teammate and good friend has been coping.

"I mean, there's frustration there, you know, 'Why now? Why me?' Those types of questions," Hull revealed.

"But I think she has a good head on her shoulders. She'll be fine. She's got a good support system in her teammates, in her friends, in her family. So, she'll be better. She'll be better from this."

Clark is a fun-loving individual who carries a very bright and positive aura. At the same time, it’s understandable that she’s now feeling a bit down as she deals with another injury spell.

When Clark suffered the injury in the dying moments of the Sun game, she was seen holding back the tears as she sat on the bench with a towel over her head. It was an emotional moment for the 23-year-old as she struggled to come to terms with the fact that she would be sidelined yet again due to her groin problem.

When Will Caitlin Clark Return for the Indiana Fever?

Unfortunately, the Fever have not provided a firm timetable on Clark’s potential return to action. Head coach Stephanie White said on Tuesday that the former Iowa star has consulted with “another doctor” for a second opinion, but at this point, there’s no new information on her status yet.

It is worth noting that Clark missed five games with a left groin injury in June and July. The Fever took a cautious approach in bringing her back, but unfortunately, she ended up facing another injury.

Given this, it would not be surprising if the team exercises even more prudence in bringing her back this time around. As such, fans can expect Clark to continue to miss games up and until the Fever’s medical team is significantly confident that there won’t be another setback with the troublesome groin issues.

The Fever's next game is on Thursday against the Las Vegas Aces. At this point, it does not seem likely that Clark will be able to suit up for that one.
