The Hokies add Penn State WR Jeff Exinor, a player they almost landed coming out of high school.
If you were waiting on the Virginia Tech Hokies to land a wide receiver in the NCAA transfer portal, you are in luck. On Tuesday night, the Hokies landed a commitment from former 4-star wideout Jeff Exinor.
Exinor, a 6-foot-2, 221-pound receiver from the McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Maryland, initially committed to Penn State in the 2025 recruiting class. However, Exinor used one of his official visits in high school to visit Virginia Tech, when Brent Pry was the head coach.
Exinor redshirted during his lone season in Happy Valley and has four years of eligibility remaining.
Exinor was listed as a tight end coming out of high school due to his build. Penn State’s former tight ends coach, Ty Howle, is now Virginia Tech’s offensive coordinator and tight ends coach. Exinor is thick, like a running back and you can tell from watching his film that he’s most dangerous after the catch. Exinor is not going to run around anyone — he’s going to run over and through you.
How soon will Exinor play at Virginia Tech? There is a lack of experienced depth at receiver, so the spring is very important for Exinor. He joins former PSU teammate Matt Henderson and Daniels Jennings at Virginia Tech, with others, such as quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer and tight end Luke Reynolds, also expected to join.
