The Florida Gators come into Billy Napier's fourth season with an overall record of 19-19, but are looking to make a statement in 2025.
Greg McElroy thought so, too, on a recent episode of "Always College Football." He believed that the Gators could be a "problem" if they were able to become a good running team this season.
Florida has the offensive line depth to make that happen, bringing back star offensive linemen Jake Slaughter, Austin Barber and Bryce Lovett.
Running back Jadan Baugh returns to Gainesville after leading the Gators in rushing with 673 yards and four touchdowns in 2024.
"If they run the football the way I anticipate them running the football, it's going to help their defense tremendously," McElroy said. "It's going to force a lot of teams to be very cognizant when it comes to stopping the run. You know what's good for a quarterback when teams are thinking about the run? Boom, heavy play action, throw it over the top. Strike up the fight song for the Florida Gators. Florida is going to be a problem."
Florida ranked in the middle of the pack when it came to average rushing yards per game last season, coming in at No. 9 in the SEC with 161.2 yards per game.
With plenty of talent returning, Florida has its eyes on making its first-ever College Football Playoff. The Gators were given +350 odds of reaching the CFP via Circa Sportsbook.
Joel Klatt believed that Florida could reach it for the first time in program history, putting the Gators at No. 7 on his list of teams that could end the streak in 2025.
Florida's quest for the CFP begins on August 30 against Long Island.
