ATLANTA, GA (WJBF)- The Atlanta Falcons wrapped up their season 8-9, once again missing the playoffs. They’re now searching for a new head coach and general manager.
Despite winning four straight games to end the season, the Falcons fired head coach Raheem Morris and General Manager Terry Fontenot. Falcon’s owner and president Arthur Blank shared in a statement Monday that he’ll be hiring a new president of football from outside the organization.
Both Morris and Fontenot held a team meeting with the players, and it was a tough reality for those inside the locker room.
“It was hard for a lot of guys. Like I said, they’re great people, and they have a massive amount of respect with the guys on this team. there were tears that were shed, players, coaches, Ra and terry as well,” said long snapper Liam McCullough.
“To a lot of people, it’s a game. but at the end of the day these are real people, humans, emotions, relationships, nobody wants to see anybody go. This is family,” said inside linebacker Josh Woods.
The search for a new head coach and general manager will begin immediately.
