Cardi B briefly stepped into the public conversation surrounding Stefon Diggs on Monday, January 5, posting — and later removing — a forceful defense of the New England Patriots wide receiver as he faces serious criminal charges connected to allegations made by a former personal chef.

The Grammy-winning rapper, who recently welcomed a child with Diggs, responded directly to online criticism aimed at the 32-year-old receiver after news surfaced that he had been charged in Massachusetts with felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery. According to TMZ, the charges stem from a December 2 incident in which the former employee alleged Diggs became physical during a dispute over pay.

In a since-deleted post on X, Cardi B insisted the accuser had never raised claims of physical contact with her, despite the two being in frequent communication. “Not once has that woman said anything to me about being touched.. NOT ONCE!!” Cardi wrote, adding that she and the woman spoke daily until the chef left Diggs’ home.

Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, also shared what she described as a screenshot of a text message from the accuser. The message read, in part, “I’m sooo sorry, I can’t talk to you… please contact my mediator and she will answer anything you need to know.” The context of the exchange was not fully clear, and the post was removed from Cardi’s account shortly afterward, though no explanation was given for its deletion.

Diggs’ legal team has strongly denied the allegations. Attorney David Meier previously said the claims are “unsubstantiated, uncorroborated, and were never investigated — because they did not occur.” Another defense attorney, Michael DiStefano, acknowledged in court that Diggs has made a financial offer to resolve the dispute, though the accuser has not been identified publicly.

Despite the legal situation, Diggs remained active on the field, recording three catches for 43 yards against the Miami Dolphins as the Patriots closed out their season. New England has publicly stood by the receiver while emphasizing that the matter is ongoing.

“These are allegations,” Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said last week. “We’ve taken the allegations very seriously.”

Diggs is scheduled to be arraigned on January 23, just days before the AFC Championship Game. Under the NFL’s personal conduct policy, his availability going forward could change depending on how the case proceeds.
