Former Iowa State Cyclones quarterback Rocco Becht has committed to Penn State out of the transfer portal, reuniting with head coach Matt Campbell.
Becht was regarded as one of the top quarterbacks available in the portal after three seasons as Iowa State’s starter. His production dipped slightly in 2025, when he threw for 2,584 yards and completed 60.5% of his passes with 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
But his experience running Campbell’s offense is expected to provide an immediate boost for a Penn State unit in transition.
Over his Cyclones career, Becht totaled 9,274 passing yards and 64 touchdowns against 27 interceptions. He also added 499 rushing yards and 19 scores on the ground, showcasing his dual-threat ability. That familiarity and versatility could accelerate Penn State’s offensive installation heading into 2026.
Penn State turned to the portal after a rought 2025 season that ended with the mid-year firing of James Franklin. Becht brings perspective shaped by Iowa State’s own ups and downs, including a four-game losing streak followed by a late surge.
A former three-star prospect, Becht now looks to translate that resilience to Happy Valley.
