This game could have repercussions for Notre Dame’s Micah Shrewsberry
We talk about this on ACC Roundup today but it’s such a striking, strange if not shocking end to that game that it deserves more attention.
The Irish were up 71-68 with 9.9 to play. Cal brought the ball in and Dai Dai Ames took it up court. Logan Imes was pressuring him but appeared to back off as Ames shot a three, which went in.
At first, one ref said it was an and-1, then he changed his mind and said it happened before the shot. Then he changed his mind again and put Ames on the line for a shot that he hit to give Cal a one-point lead. Notre Dame’s Braeden Shrewsberry missed a three at the end, after which his father, Irish coach Micah Shrewsberry, lost it and charged after the official.
It wasn’t like he ran up to confront him. He really charged at him. One of his assistants caught him before he could really cause himself some serious trouble, but the school and conference will be looking at that tape first thing in the morning. That behavior was just over the top.
