The Frenchman has really kicked on to a serious run of form, now with 11 goals and two assists for the Reds, which puts him right in the middle of the pack of players sitting behind Erling Haaland in the Premier League golden boot race. Given it's the 23-year-old's debut season, he's been on fire.
When it comes to the more senior of the two strikers, however, the conversation is far less positive.
Isak cost over £50m more than Ekitike and alongside failing to deliver much of an impact in the games he's been afforded an opportunity in, the Swede is now being sidelined with a broken leg.
One possibility to bolster the attack and take some of the pressure off Ekitike to deliver all the time, while Isak gets to grips with playing at Liverpool is to consider another star who fits the Isak mould.
Liverpool ought to keep an eye on Kofane
According to the Daily Mail, 19-year-old striker Christian Kofane at Bayer Leverkusen is a wonderkid who will take the world by storm in 2026 and comparisons have already started to be made to Isak.
The Cameroon international has made a difference for his international side at AFCON, getting on the scoresheet against Mozambique earlier this week. Furthermore, he's adapted well to life in Germany this season, getting five goals and two assists from just 1047 minutes on the pitch.
In a statistical breakdown by FBREF, he's listed alongside both Ekitike and Isak, as well as Harry Kane, Liam Delap and Mathys Tel, each of which are highly esteemed strikers in European football.
With such an impressive showing so early in his career, it makes a lot of sense why he's highly-rated.
Leverkusen spent just £5m on his signing last summer, and if the Reds were to act fast, it's possible that they could bring him to Merseyside without having to pay an extremely inflated fee, although the chances of the German side letting him go are going to be quite low.
Nonetheless, he's certainly a talent that Liverpool should keep on their radar over the next few years in case Isak fails to deliver on the promise he showed before £130m was splashed on him. It should only be a matter of time until the Swede returns and hits the ground running, but his current situation is deeply concerning and the Reds can't afford to spend most of the season with just one striker.
We've seen countless academy transfers over the past few years, and there's a clear pathway into the first team for any young talent who decides to join the Reds. Kofane could either opt to work on his development beforehand or come straight into Arne Slot's plans if he wanted a Liverpool move.
