Sam Greene announces return to Kentucky

Another player returning on defense.

The transfer portal is now open for college football as Will Stein and his new Kentucky Football staff are trying to piece together and fill holes left on the roster from the coaching change.

We have seen plenty of big-name players enter the portal from last season’s UK team, but now we finally get some good news on the defensive side of the ball.

According to his Instagram, linebacker Sam Greene has announced his return to Kentucky. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Greene, a 6-2 and 248-pound linebacker out of Washington, D.C., transferred to Kentucky last season from USC. He totaled 25 tackles this season with a sack and a pass deflection.

After suffering an injury in the Florida game, Greene was sidelined for the remainder of the season. Looking ahead, the soon-to-be sophomore will get to lace it up in Jay Bateman’s defensive unit at UK. With his return alongside Ty Brant, the Cats have a few key players returning on defense.

Now, we wait to see how they build out the rest of the defense.
