Birmingham City defender Ebonie Locke has joined FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division club Derby County on loan for the remainder of the season.

Blues confirmed the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

The 18-year-old is a product of the Birmingham City academy system and she recently signed her first professional contract with the club. Locke has made two appearances for Blues so far but is finding minutes hard to come by given the strong competition for places at St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park.

The youngster needs regular game-time to push on at senior level and she will therefore hope to play an important role for loan club Derby County in the coming months.

After joining The Ewes on loan, Locke said “I’m excited for this new challenge. I’m ready to test myself and express myself at a new level in Tier 3.

“Hopefully, I can bring something different to the team here and have an impact to help us climb our way up the table in the second half of the season.

“I’m a full-back who loves to join the attack. I also love the thrill of a one-v-one in defence and the battle of the game. I can’t wait to get started and go out to fight for this team.”

Locke could make her Derby County debut against Loughborough Lightning on Sunday.
