Michigan Football LB Cole Sullivan enters transfer portal

BREAKING: Michigan Football LB Cole Sullivan is entering the transfer portal, but a return to Ann Arbor remains a possibility:

One of Michigan’s top defensive players is entering the portal — linebacker Cole Sullivan. However, as ESPN’s Pete Thamel is reporting, a return to Michigan is possible as “he’s expected to evaluate his options.”

The sophomore from Pennsylvania had a bit of a breakout season with the Wolverines in his first real year of game action. He compiled 44 total tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, three interceptions and one pass breakup in 11 games.

This would be a massive loss for Kyle Whittingham and the Wolverines. Sullivan was projected to be one of the starting linebackers in 2026 and is a player rising up in a big way. As Thamel pointed out, Sullivan will be one of the most sought after linebackers in the portal this winter with two years of eligibility remaining.

Hopefully Whittingham is able to work some magic and get Sullivan back in Ann Arbor for 2026 and beyond.
