I got nothing.
There is no shame in losing this game. But everyone in the building should be ashamed of the effort we saw today. They were listless, error prone, and proved everyone right who said they didn’t belong.
There isn’t one position group that you can point to and say that they did their jobs.
- Ty was bad before getting pulled.
- The receivers caught the ball but blocking was too much to ask.
- The offensive line couldn’t open any holes.
- The running backs still don’t know what pass pro is.
- The front seven got run all over.
- The secondary got beat too much and failed in run support.
- Coaching decisions were dubious, to be charitable.
Worst of all, the defense quit in the second half. You want a silver lining? Conor Talty made his only kick and Blake Doud didn’t shank any.
Other than that, everything went great. Austin Mack flashed some if you want a silver lining. In hindsight, it almost would have been better had Oklahoma not dropped that punt. This team clearly learned nothing from that good fortune.
Well, it’s basketball season in Tuscaloosa. Kentucky rolls into town on Saturday.
Georgia and Ole Miss play tonight if you care to watch any more football.
