An assistant coach is crossing the border
Wisconsin is set to hire Minnesota running backs coach Jaydon Everett for the same position after one season with the Golden Gophers. 247 Sports’ Ryan Burns was the first to report it.
It’s tough to say whether this is much of a loss for Minnesota. The running back position was a bit of a wash for the Gophers this season, as Darius Taylor missed three games and was limited in two of them while battling a hamstring injury, and second-string running back A.J. Taylor was lost to a season-ending injury in Week 3. Fame Ijeboi showed promise in limited action before announcing his intent to enter the transfer portal in December.
Everett is reportedly getting a salary increase and a multi-year contract, which is uncommon for a running backs coach. I question whether head coach Luke Fickell will even be in Madison beyond next season.
