Will Stein and Oregon Ducks are moving on in the College Football Playoff

The Ducks are moving on after beating Texas Tech.

Kentucky Wildcats head coach Will Stein is moving on in the College Football Playoff after his Oregon Ducks took down Texas Tech in the Orange Bowl.

In a New Year’s Day game that saw both offenses struggle, Stein was able to help the Ducks muster up two touchdowns and three field goals in a 23-0 shutout of the Red Raiders.

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore finished the game 26/33 passing for 234 yards, but the ground game was held to just 89 rushing yards against a stout Red Raiders defense that held opponents under 10 points a game in five straight contests entering this matchup. That included 14 points total across two matchups with a top-15 BYU team.

With the win, Kentucky will be waiting another week until Stein makes his way to Lexington for good. Oregon will face the winner of Indiana vs. Alabama in the Peach Bowl on January 9.

In the meantime, Stein will be juggling his duties as Oregon’s OC while also recruiting players in the transfer portal for the Wildcats. The portal opens January 2, so it’ll be a very busy week for Stein as he looks to assemble his first roster while also vying for a national championship for the Ducks.
