I’m going to say something that I’ve said multiple times this season, even after some pushback: I’ve been watching Louisville football for as long as I can remember, and Isaac Brown is the most naturally talented running back I’ve ever seen don the red and black.
Bilal Powell was tremendous, Michael Bush was a freak, Ralph Dawkins, Eric Shelton, Jawhar Jordan, Javian Hawkins … all terrific, none are as naturally gifted as Isaac.
Now, unfortunately, Brown will be finishing his college career somewhere else. The super talented sophomore is officially entering the transfer portal with a “do not contact” tag, meaning he already knows where he’s headed.
Even though it’s not unexpected, it still hurts. It’ll hurt more if he’s widely regarded as one of the best players in college football in 2026.
I’ve been saying for a few weeks now (hey, check out the radio show) that I didn’t expect any of the big three running backs back at Louisville next season, but we’ll see what happens with KeyJuan Brown. If Brown also decides to hit the portal it’ll leave U of L with just walk-on Braxton Jennings and freshman Jamarice Wilder (who was injured after the first game of the season) as running backs who received carries in 2025 and are coming back in 2026.
Brave new world.
