After nearly nine years in charge of Stellenbosch FC, Steve Parker has decided it's time for a change and a new challenge away from South Africa, officially choosing Tanzanian giants Simba SC.

The beautiful thing is that the experienced coach, with his nine years of experience, was able to raise Simba SC from the National First Division to become one of the best teams in South Africa, with a consistent level in the Betway Premiership competitions.

The South African coach confirmed that the step he took was a sad one for him, but it was necessary to embark on a new experience in his professional career.

"Every journey eventually finds its fork in the road. For me, that time is now," stated Steve Barker, announcing his departure from Stellenbosch FC. "It is a bittersweet decision, but I feel the time is right for Stellenbosch to enter a new era with someone else at the helm."

Reflecting on Barker's profound legacy, club CEO Rob Benadie emphasized that the coach's impact extended far beyond the scoreboard. "Steve’s achievements on the field speak for themselves," Benadie noted, "but his influence has been just as important in helping shape the culture and identity that have become synonymous with Stellenbosch FC in recent years." He credited Barker with being instrumental in defining the club's professional standards and overall ethos.

Benadie also highlighted the rarity and significance of such enduring loyalty in contemporary football. "To serve a single club for nearly nine years in the modern game reflects not only remarkable loyalty, but also a deep commitment to our long-term vision, which remains firmly on track thanks in no small part to his contributions."

Looking ahead, the CEO expressed confidence in the club's foundation. "While Steve’s departure marks the end of an important and fruitful chapter in our history, the club is well positioned for the future," he asserted. "We believe our structures and philosophy will ensure continuity and stability as we move into the next phase of our journey."

Concluding with a personal tribute, Benadie said, "Finally, I would like to express my sincere gratitude, both personally and on behalf of Stellenbosch FC, to Steve and his family for their commitment and support throughout his time at the club. We wish them nothing but success in Tanzania."
