Enzo Maresca ‘expected’ to leave Chelsea today — report

There he goes; here we go, again

It’s a new year and, apparently, soon a brand new era at Chelsea, with manager Enzo Maresca ‘expected’ to be leaving the club today. Maresca is still officially in charge as we speak, but the relationship between him and the higher-ups has evidently reached its breaking point. That he’s leaving on his own terms is certainly an unexpected twist.

This is a fast-moving story, breaking last night and coming soon to its likely conclusion, but behind the scenes it would appear to have been developing for quite a while. Maresca’s “worst 48 hours” comments after the Everton win, his only league win of the past month, were just the tip of the iceberg. As is often the case in such situations, things started breaking a long time ago, and now are broken beyond repair.

None of this is officially official just yet, nor there are any rumors of who might be taking over at least on an interim basis.
