Leading the way for FC Bayern and England — Kane has assumed the mantle of responsibility.
Move over, Radio Müller. There’s a new drill sergeant in town.
When Thomas Müller was at Bayern Munich, he always set the tone — and not only with his play. The veteran’s locker room presence and steady voice in the media, particularly after tough results, was an invaluable part of the Bavarians’ togetherness in his final few seasons there.
But now Müller is doing his thing in Vancouver for the Whitecaps, and it’s left a gigantic void — as any departure of a player of his stature does. Who better to fill it than superstar striker Harry Kane?
And that is precisely what the England captain has done, according to Sport Bild. As captured by @iMiaSanMia:
In the dressing room, Harry Kane is the one who took over Thomas Müller’s role as the pep talker before games. The Englishman often speaks the last words to the team before kick-off, focusing mainly on showing mentality and not being afraid to go into duels. For example, before the game against Hoffenheim on September 20, Kane told his teammates: “These are the games in which the leagues are decided. You have to win these games. We can’t think it will all come easily” – Bayern won that game 4-1 [@SPORTBILD]
Kane, 32, has been a massive signing since arriving two summers ago from Tottenham Hotspur. He’s given Bayern the lethal finishing it had missed since the days of Robert Lewandowski, sustained the wondrous space-carving passing that Müller had injected in his Raumdeuter-ing heyday, and now is stepping up as a locker room leader, too.
It’s a good thing it is looking likelier and likelier that Kane will extend his stay in Munich.
