Bayern Munich star Dayot Upamecano credits all coaches who played role in his development

Dayot Upamecano appreciates all who have helped him…

Bayern Munich center-back Dayot Upamecano has appreciation for everyone who has helped him along the way during his career.

Well…almost everyone.

“They all played a part in my success. I arrived in Germany very young, and (Ralf) Rangnick instilled in me the confidence I needed to establish myself in a foreign country. (Julian) Nagelsmann gave me that freedom in my game, the ability to play out from the back. I already had that potential, but he helped me develop it. With (Vincent) Kompany, I feel the fact that he’s played in my position. He sometimes takes me aside, says, “Dayot, come to my office,” and shows me video clips highlighting what I need to improve,” Upamecano told L’Equipe (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

Hmmm…there was an interesting name missing from that mix — former Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel.

It could have been an innocent omission or maybe it was a reflection on how grating toward the locker room Tuchel was perceived to be from the outside. Regardless, Upamecano is always willing to credit those who have helped him during his career journey.
