Oregon vs Texas Tech Player Props & Best Bets for the Orange Bowl

Orange Bowl college football picks and Oregon vs. Texas player props. Jordon Davison rules the ground.

The first College Football Playoff matchup on New Year’s Day might be the most exciting, as the Orange Bowl features the Oregon Ducks and the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

It’s a matchup between two of the best defenses in the country, so the running game should be the key to creating points for both teams. I’ve found some college football player props that will find the lane just like the top backs in this game.

Will the Oregon Ducks' No. 1 rushing attack get anything going on the ground vs. this elite Texas Tech Red Raiders defense?

Over the course of the year, Jordon Davison has become my favorite rusher in Oregon's backfield. The freshman is an absolute truck who began the year as the Ducks' goal-line back but received more carries as the season wore on.

Davison finished the year with 625 yards at 6.4 yards per carry and 13 touchdowns. He scored in nine of Oregon’s 13 games. If Oregon finds the end zone in this game, there’s a great chance Davison is a part of that, and at plus money, it is a great value.

Dante Moore Over 231.5 Passing Yards

Texas Tech has an elite defense, arguably the best in the country, but this Oregon offense is the best it's seen this season.

The only unit that came close was Arizona State when Sam Leavitt was healthy. That was the Red Raiders' lone loss, with Leavitt throwing for 319 yards.

When you combine the Ducks' running game with QB Dante Moore, they can be very hard to stop. And Moore has thrown for 1,162 yards, completing 76% of his passes over his last four games, hitting at least 257 yards in each.

Texas Tech will respect the Oregon run game enough to open things up through the air. At least enough to go Over this passing yards prop.

Cameron Dickey Over 64.5 Rushing Yards

Texas Tech is led by its defense, but the Red Raiders will need a balanced attack if they want to upset Oregon.

That means getting something out of the running game. Luckily, the Red Raiders have one of the most consistent backs in the nation in Cameron Dickey. Dickey rushed for 1,095 yards at 5.5 yards per carry while finding the end zone 14 times this season.

You can run a bit against the Ducks, who rank 36th in the nation in defensive success rate on rushing plays. And we just saw them get gashed by James Madison in their first-round matchup.

Oregon surrendered 186 yards on 35 carries in that game. Dickey’s rushing prop is set at a modest 64.5, a number he’s eclipsed 10 times this season and in each of his last five.
