Regis Le Bris confirmed that Dan Ballard will be out of Sunderland’s Premier League clash against Manchester City.
The defender missed Sunderland’s 1-1 draw with Leeds last time out through an ankle injury but aside from that has been a vital part of Le Bris’ side.
The Sunderland boss gave team news ahead of the match against City: “He’s getting better,” he said. “But he won’t be available for the game tomorrow.
“We hope for Spurs, but we’ll see. It’s not serious.”
Simon Adingra was brought in from Brighton this summer and scored his first goal for the Black Cats against Leeds. Le Bris says he is progressing well at the club.
“It was obvious that this period was a busy period with less players, so more opportunities to get game time,” he said.
“He’s a talented player, sometimes you can have a tough period where your confidence is less. He’s worked hard and is well-connected with the club now. Let’s hope it continues.”
Pep Guardiola’s side beat Sunderland 3-0 last time out and Le Bris was asked if he has learnt anything from that result.
“For me, after the two goals the game was very different,” he said. “They are smart and able to manage different scenarios – when they scored those goals they were able to defend differently.
“We had more chances to get in their half but they were able to counter-attack and create more chances. We’ll see tomorrow.”
