Greetings friends! Welcome to the final day of 2025. As we reflect one last time on the year that was and look forward to everything to come in 2026, let’s check in on what is happening around the league.
In Mariners news…
- Félix Hernández has been gaining a lot of momentum this Hall of Fame voting season. Jon Morosi explained why he added the King to his ballot this year.
Around the league…
- Anthony Rendon and the Angels have reportedly come to agreement on a contract restructuring that effectively makes the third baseman a free agent. Rendon has already stated that he’ll spend the 2026 season rehabbing, and it wouldn’t be surprising if he never appears in a big league game again.
- Anaheim is already making use of the savings, signing righty reliever Kirby Yates to a one-year, $5M deal.
- Diamondbacks general manager Mike Hazen said he doesn’t plan to leave the door open on a Ketel Marte trade for much longer. When pressed, he said it’s likely they’ll hold onto Marte heading into the season.
- Doug Nadvornick at Spokane Public Radio spoke to author Eric Vickrey about his new book chronicling the 1970 Spokane Indians, the greatest team the city of Spokane has ever seen.
