There is no doubt Giants are Jaxson Dart’s team | New York Post

Brian Daboll was present on the ground floor of Jaxson Dart’s development and it is probably a deep, gnawing regret within the former Giants head coach that he will not be around to finish the job. And Mike Kafka has every right to feel more than a little wistful, as his time with Dart is likely coming to an end after Sunday’s season finale.

Baldy spotlights Brian Burns/Abdul Carter

2025 NFL All-Rookie team: Best first-year players by position | ESPN.com

Abdul Carter, New York Giants 2025 stats: 43 tackles, 4 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries Drafted: Round 1, No. 3

My All-Rookie team is not particularly concerned with attending team meetings on time or paying attention while in them; we just like good players on the football field, and Carter sure is one. He is first among all defensive linemen in quick pressures with 44, and his time to pressure of 2.41 seconds is leaps and bounds above second place (2.57 seconds) among edge rushers. Carter must learn how to convert his incredible first step into more targeted rushes that end with sacks, but the bones of his play are tremendous. He looks like a future double-digit sack artist.

With the New York Giants’ draft positioning again a prominent topic, here’s a random musing from their latest performance: Considering the potential Jaxson Dart has shown through 11 starts, the Giants could have been justified if they took him at No. 3.

This is more of a compliment to Dart than anything. Carter, who was considered by some as the best overall player in the class, was an easy choice at No. 3, so it shouldn’t have been a difficult decision, even for the QB-starved Giants. But it’s fun to think of an alternate universe as Dart wraps up a mostly encouraging rookie season.

Dart completed 22 of 30 passes for 207 yards and ran for two touchdowns. Dart now has 22 total touchdowns (13 passing, nine rushing) in 11 starts. With one game to go, the No. 25 overall draft pick trails only Charlie Conerly (27 in 1948) and Daniel Jones (26 in 2019) for the most total touchdowns in Giants history by a rookie quarterback.

Dart (No. 25 overall pick) was nominated after each of his first six starts, which led to him being named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for October. Running back Cam Skattebo (fourth round) was nominated three times before suffering a season-ending ankle injury in Week 8.

What we learned this season: Quarterback Jaxson Dart is the guy. Dart came in and established himself nicely. He is 15th with a QBR of 58.1. That puts him right behind Denver’s Bo Nix, tied with Chicago’s Caleb Williams and ahead of Detroit’s Jared Goff. Not bad for a rookie. And his nine rushing touchdowns is the second most ever for a rookie, behind only Cam Newton. Those inside the Giants’ building are sold on Dart. Interim coach Mike Kafka said he has “no doubts” about Dart being a franchise quarterback. Several players told ESPN that Dart is a selling point for them to return as they head to free agency this offseason.

Post-Week 17 Mock Draft: Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets Select new franchise quarterbacks | PFF

2. New York Giants: WR Jordyn Tyson, Arizona State. While the Giants’ head-coaching situation remains a question mark, the franchise’s goal should be to build around Jaxson Dart. New York exits Week 17 ranked 30th in PFF receiving grade. Malik Nabers should return to full health in 2026, but the Giants need another dynamic weapon. Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson, who finished his 2025 season with an 85.9 PFF receiving grade, should be an easy plug-and-play option alongside Nabers.

6. New York Giants (via projected trade with Browns): Carnell Tate, WR, Ohio State

The 2027 wide receiver class (which should include freaky dudes such as Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith, Alabama’s Ryan Williams and more) will be one to remember. But don’t sleep on the 2026 group. Tate, Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson and USC’s Makai Lemon are potential No. 1 WRs in the NFL. Physically, Tate could be outstanding opposite Malik Nabers.

Ranking Most Attractive Potential Open NFL Coaching Jobs Ahead of Black Monday | Bleacher Report

1. New York Giants. The Giants have the most attractive job opening of any this offseason. Not only will the head coach inherit a coveted position with one of the NFL’s most historic franchises in the country’s largest market, but Big Blue has also already laid the foundations for future success on both sides of the ball.

The nucleus for a contending offense should already be in place. With a trio of promising skill position players in Jaxson Dart, Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo—the latter two who should be back and healthy in time for the start of the 2026 campaign—all under contract for several more years, the G-Men just need to pad out the supporting cast to create an upper echelon offensive team. The defense has plenty of talent too, offering a good mix of proven veterans like Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns alongside up-and-coming stars such as 2025 first-rounder Abdul Carter.

If New York can unearth a coach who believes in Dart and has a plan to maximize the quarterback’s unique talents—whether through his own system or that of a trusted offensive coordinator—the Giants will be right in the thick of the playoff hunt at this time next year.

Jerry Jones: Dak Prescott will start, won’t say how much we’ll use him | Pro Football Talk

Jones reiterated that Dak Prescott will start in Week 18 for the Cowboys against the Giants. That said, he may not be the one to finish the game. “How we use Dak, where we use him, those kinds of things, let’s just make that a part of the game plan that we won’t talk about.” Jones said.

That means Joe Milton may have a good chance to get the most reps he’s had during his time with the Cowboys, as the previous three games he’s played in this season have only come later when games are already out of hand.

Cowboys roster news: Dallas releasing cornerback Trevon Diggs | Blogging the Boys

Diggs could land with another team as a waiver claim, but they would owe him over $472,000 for this week and would also inherit a contract that has three more years and no guaranteed money left on it. That deal calls for Diggs to make $14.5 million in 2026 with a cap hit of over $18.44 million. Diggs will become a free agent if he goes unclaimed and would not need to wait until March to sign with another team if he remains a free agent through the end of the regular season.

Diggs played in the first six games of the season before landing on injured reserve. He suffered a concussion while at home and also continued recovering from knee issues that limited him to 13 games over the two previous seasons. He returned to play in the last two games,

What we learned this season: A high-scoring offense is not enough. The Cowboys have a 4,000-yard passer (Dak Prescott), a 1,000-yard rusher (Javonte Williams), and two 1,000-yard receivers (CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens), but they were eliminated from the playoffs with three games to play. Had the defense been average or close to it, perhaps Dallas would be in the postseason. Aside from a three-game winning streak, the unit underperformed in every area, which could lead to a fourth defensive coordinator in four seasons. Blame the Micah Parsons trade, but the Cowboys have just 31 sacks (their fewest since 2020) and 11 takeaways (their fewest since 2015), and they’ve given up 30-plus points eight times.
