West Ham United are preparing a bid and an opening offer for Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, according to the Guardian. West Ham have identified the Norway international as a priority target as Hammers manager Nuno Espirito Santo is in dire need of attacking reinforcements at the London Stadium club. Wolves want as much as £40 million for Strand Larsen, and it remains to be seen whether the Hammers are open to paying such for a striker with just one Premier League goal to his name in 2025-26.
The 25-year-old notched 14 league goals in 35 games last term and also ended his time in La Liga with 13 goals in 37 league games for Celta Vigo in 2023-24. Wolves believe Strand Larsen is worth £40m, but they are unlikely to get that much for him if they relegate at the end of the season. West Ham have a couple of striking options on their radar, but Espirito Santo wants players with the experience of English football. The Norwegian international fits the bill as his link-up play, aerial ability and mobility could be perfect for the Hammers’ style of play.
However, Wolves may need to reduce their asking price for a deal to get done as West Ham could also look to strengthen other areas. They want a new defender but an attempt to sign Manchester City’s Nathan Ake on loan has failed as the Dutchman is not interested in a move. A new striker is top of their wishlist as they believe signing one is key to their hopes of staying up. West Ham are 18th in the table after 19 games, four points off safety, and they need to improve on the pitch in the second half of the season to boost their survival chances.
