Phillies' Bryson Stott Is Primed for a Breakout Season

Philadelphia Phillies' Bryson Stott is primed to have a major 2026 season.

The Philadelphia Phillies will need each of their All-Stars (Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, and Trae Turner) to play at a high level in order for the team to reach its World Series aspirations.

However, it’s going to take a strong effort from the supporting cast to make a championship run, and one player in particular is primed for a breakout season with the Phillies: Bryson Stott.

Stott’s Pre/Post All-Star Break Stats

Stott was a fine player before the All-Star Break. He certainly wasn’t a liability in the lineup, logging a .636 OPS with 17 extra base hits, but he still hadn’t lived up to the title of being a first-round pick.

That said, during the second half of the season, Stott took off at the plate, especially when the Phillies needed his bat the most. After the All-Star Break, Sott registered .294/.368/.487 slash line with an OPS of .855 and 21 extra base hits.

When the Phillies lost Turner to the injured list in September, Stott stepped up to fill his void, and these numbers alone should make the Philadelphia organization feel confident he’s in line to record similar numbers at the start of the 2026 season.

Stott’s Improved Plate Discipline

Since Stott’s big league debut, he’s continued to see development in his plate discipline.

That growth continued in 2025 with the left-hander’s chase being just 23.3 percent. The season before, Stott’s was pursuing many more pitches outside of the zone, registering a chase rate of 28.3 percent. In 2023, his chase rate was 29.5 percent.

If that trend continues in 2026, Stott should be swinging at even more pitches in the zone, which could generate even more meaningful offensive production.

Stott’s Mechanical Change

MLB.com’s Todd Zolecki recently pointed out that Stott made a mechanical change in his swing, which he lowering his hands. The result of this slight adjustment was a major uptick in offensive production.

A full season of this revamped, successful swing is enough to make the case that Stott is ready to put together a massive 2026 season.
