The NBA offseason is in full swing as the Las Vegas Summer League wrapped up on Sunday night and teams around the league are still searching the free agent and trade markets to upgrade their roster to chase a title next season.
One team who has been quiet thus far this summer is the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder, which was to be expected.
Oklahoma City has not made an additions to their roster this offseason outside of the 2025 NBA Draft as almost their entire core will return for next season.
While the Thunder have not brought in many new players to their roster, they did lock in their star trio of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams as they all were signed to max contract extensions.
These were massive moves by the Thunder as their stars are now locked in for the foreseeable future as they try to chase multiple championships over the next handful of seasons.
On Monday, Shai sent out a message on the NBA’s official social media accounts regarding the upcoming release of NBA 2K26.
“Preorder NBA 2K26 and don’t get left on the loading screen,” Shai said in the NBA’s post on X.

Of course, Shai is the cover star for NBA 2K26 this season as he becomes the first Thunder player to brace the cover of NBA 2K since Kevin Durant did so on NBA 2K15.
It is a well-deserved honor for the superstar point guard, especially coming off a historic season that saw him win regular season, Western Conference Finals and NBA Finals MVP, the first to win all three in the same season in league history.
NBA 2K26 is available for preorder now with the official release date on September 5, 2025, while early access for preorders start on August 29,2025.
