The Morning Commute for Tuesday, December 30
Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking more about LB3.
As a St. Louis area native, it’s been difficult to be interested in the NFL for quite some time — but Luther Burden III has changed things. In case if you missed it on Sunday night — LB3 put on a show for the Bears on NBC SNF primetime. From Josh’s morning commute:
The rookie wideout was huge for the Bears despite their eventual 42-38 loss on the road to San Francisco. Burden set career highs in receptions (8) and yards (138), both numbers leading the Bears offense.
Those 138 receiving yards by Burden were most by a Bears rookie WR in a game since 1981.
Burden has also been in elite company throughout his rookie season:
He unfortunately sustained a quad injury after the Bears loss to the 49ers and was carted off the field. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, however, it is not meant to be serious as he will undergo additional testing.
Don’t be surprised if Burden will be out on Sunday in the regular season finale against the Lions on Sunday just for precautionary reasons before the playoffs. After all, Burden and the Bears have already wrapped up the NFC North.

I feel like I’m writing a lot about Luther Burden in my commutes lately. Maybe I’m going soft and am starting to like the NFL again.]
What Josh said.
It’s a one year job where he didn’t call plays. I’m not sure how much weight – if any – you can legitimately put on this job, especially since it appears that it was a temporary life raft thrown his way by a friend of his when said friend needed a bridge offensive coordinator. Hell, he spent less than a full year at this job before moving on to the next gig, I’m not sure how much influence or input he managed to imprint on this offense. But it did improve from the ‘21 version to the ‘22 while – YUP YOU GUESS IT – regressing massively in explosive plays.
This Hater’s takeaway: mid
Nate is …. still not a fan of Chip Lindsey.
As per usual this season, the defense was consistently impressive, but a lackluster offense couldn’t get Missouri over the hump against a ranked opponent.
This Mizzou defense deserved so much better all throughout the season. Shoutout to Nicholas Rodriguez on topping our Gator Bowl MV3 at No. 1.
I’ve compiled some of my favorite feature-style photos from the past semester here for another top 10 countdown.
Hannah has her Top 10 feature photos from this semester. All of them are good, but Xavier Lloyd from Mizzou Football comes in at No. 1.
