LORETTO (WTAJ) — Saint Francis basketball will retire the numbers worn by Mike Iuzzolino and Joe Anderson during a pregame ceremony in February, as the school celebrates the 35th anniversary of the 1991 NCAA Tournament team.

Iuzzolino, who wore no. 42, Anderson who wore no. 44 played integral roles on the team that won its first Northeastern Conference championship, punching its first ticked to March Madness.

Today, Anderson remains the program’s all-time scoring leader with 2,282 points, while Iuzzolino’s 772s points in 1991 remains the school’s single-season record. Their jersey will hang next to other Red Flash legends such as Maurice Stokes (no. 26), Kevin Porter (no. 10), and Norm Van Lier (no. 12).

The ceremony will be held before tip-off on February 14, against Mercyhurst.

The 1991 team was one of two Red Flash teams to make the tournament. Saint Francis made a return trip last season after winning the school’s second NEC tournament title.
