And so Cara Consuegra is on the board for the Class of 2027.
We have a NEW GOLDEN EAGLE to discuss, as Class of 2027 Wisconsin prospect Haylie Dulas has announced her verbal commitment to Cara Consuegra and Marquette women’s basketball.
Here’s the text from her Instagram post, for posterity’s sake:
I am very blessed and excited to announce my verbal commitment to play basketball and continue my academic journey at Marquette University! Thank you to my family, friends, teammates, coaches, and the Marquette coaching staff for their endless support through it all! So excited for this opportunity and can’t wait for the next chapter! Go Golden Eagles!
We have to give credit where credit is due, as the early work on recruiting Dulas actually belongs to Megan Duffy. Dulas went on a visit to Marquette back in August of 2023 — math/time-wise, I presume this was an unofficial visit — and it’s a safe bet that Khadijah Rushdan staying on board as an assistant coach helped keep communication going as Cara Consuegra took over.
FUN FACT: Indiana Pacers guard and Noted Osh Kosh Guy Tyrese Haliburton commented three fire emojis on that post.
Prep Girls Hoops and WisSports.net help us fill in some pieces here. PGH lists Dulas as a 5’11” small forward, while WisSports has her as a 6’0” wing. It seems like a safe bet that Cara Consuegra likes the development track for Dulas, as her career stats for Kimberly High School so far don’t really jump off the page. Dulas averaged 10.5 points per game last year for the Papermakers, connecting on 35% of her three-point attempts, which was up from just 31% as a freshman. Dulas has averaged 3.9 rebounds per game in both seasons of high school competition, and last year, she added 2.0 assists to the show as well.
Oh, and by the way: Kimberly went 29-1 and won the Division 1 state title last season. Dulas had 13 points, four rebounds, and a steal in the 47-26 victory over Muskego.
Something called JustAGame.com has stats for Kimberly’s current season, and you’ll be shocked to find out that Dulas is doing more as a junior. She’s up to 15.0 points per game in nine contests this season to go with 5.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.3 blocks. She’s also shooting 39% on triples, so again: Development track, and I’m guessing that “notable contributor to a state title as a sophomore” thing helps, too.
Before I drop in this nearly 5 minute long highlight reel from the Kimberly Girls Basketball YouTube account, can I share their scouting report on Haylie Dulas that opens it up?
Outstanding defender — Length creates disruption
Gravity player. Inside/outside threat. Leader with great work ethic. Fantastic teammate. Fun to play with and a nightmare to play against!
That’s neat. Do more of that, high school girls basketball teams!
And now, the new scholarship chart.
Yeah, it looks weird because there are no sophomores on this year’s roster. While I was editing, I adjusted JJ Barnes’ eligibility due to her season ending knee injury, so she’ll be eligible for four years of playing time starting next fall alongside Se’Crette Carter before Dulas comes in the following year.
I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again: Cara Consuegra’s gonna do a bunch of work in the transfer portal come April, right? Even if Aryelle Stevens sticks around after missing this year due to injury and Ayuen Akot gets extra eligibility after starting in the junior college ranks, that’s still five open roster spots for the 2026-27 season. Or maybe some spring signings for high school players? Something’s gonna happen, right?
