Jaxson Dart has impressed on the field, but this former Giants QB isn’t sold.
Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart’s dad isn’t holding back.
After former Giants QB Danny Kanell, a CBS Sports analyst, questioned Dart’s long-term potential, Brandon Dart delivered a no-nonsense reply that quickly went viral.
“I don’t know if Jaxson Dart is the long-term answer for the Giants. (When I) think of a first-round draft pick, I think of somebody that you should picture for 10-12 years is going to be your guy,” Kanell said in a clip shared on X/Twitter. “I still haven’t seen the development as a passer, he’s still running the football. They’re still designing runs for him, but I want to see him take that next step as a passer. I just haven’t seen it yet.”
Dart’s father responded with, “Bro, eat a fat one,” on X/Twitter.
Dart has been a breath of fresh air for the Giants since taking over quarterback duties in Week 4. In 13 games (11 starts), he has completed 63.2% of his passes for 2,042 yards with 13 touchdowns and 5 interceptions.
He added 455 yards on the ground and nine rushing touchdowns.
He’s faced seven playoff teams (Chargers, Eagles twice, Broncos, 49ers, Bears, Patriots) in 11 of his starts.
Kanell was drafted by the Giants in the 1996 NFL Draft and spent several seasons with the team, mostly as a backup quarterback.
After retiring in 2003, Kanell transitioned into broadcasting, becoming an NFL analyst.
