The Auburn Tigers last competed for a national title in 2013 under head coach Gus Malzahn.

It has been tough sledding for the program since then, with Auburn's last 10-win season coming in 2017. The Tigers have not won a bowl game since 2018 either.

On Monday, Circa Sportsbook released its odds to make the College Football Playoff, with Auburn coming in at +300.

The CFP was introduced to college football in 2014, with Auburn missing that season after going 8-5. The playoff expanded to 12 teams last season for the first time in its history.

Auburn has not won a national title since 2010 with Heisman winner Cam Newton at the helm.

Auburn lost quarterback Payton Thorne, running back Jarquez Hunter, receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith, and others to the NFL.

However, the Tigers went to the portal to fill some crucial team needs, with former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Jackson Arnold, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets receiver Eric Singleton Jr., and Virginia Tech Hokies offensive tackle Xavier Chaplin highlighting their transfer class.

On3's JD PicKell believed Arnold could be the key to unlocking the Auburn offense. However, Arnold has had turnover issues in the past, throwing three interceptions and fumbling nine times in 2024.

PicKell named turnovers as Auburn's Achilles' Heel last season, which Arnold has struggled with.

Reaching the playoff would be a massive milestone for the Tigers, but it would also guarantee head coach Hugh Freeze has his first winning season on The Plains. Freeze has not had a winning season with Auburn yet and comes into 2025 with an 11-14 record.

Freeze's push for a playoff berth starts on August 29 against the Baylor Bears.
