The Phoenix Suns are reportedly showing interest in a former first overall pick during free agency.
Suns Showing Interest in Former No. 1 Pick Amid Roster Changes originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Phoenix Suns were one of the more active teams to begin the NBA offseason but since free agency started, they have made very few moves.
Of course, the Suns started their offseason by trading Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets for a package centered around Dillon Brooks, Jalen Green and the draft pick that they used to select Khaman Maluach.
They then landed Mark Williams from the Charlotte Hornets during the first round of the NBA draft before selecting Rasheer Fleming and Koby Brea in the second round.
Since then, the Suns have made only a few moves which includes them signing Nigel Hayes-Davis from the EuroLeague and buying out Bradley Beal’s contract.
Despite this, Phoenix is expected to make more moves and they have recently been linked to a former first overall pick.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Suns are one of four teams that have shown interest in Ben Simmons during free agency.
“League sources say that the Suns have also had some recent dialogue with former All-Star Ben Simmons, who I'm told has drawn interest since free agency began from Boston, New York and Sacramento,” Stein wrote.

Simmons would be a solid addition to the Suns bench, especially with them desperately needing a playmaker.
Last season, the 29-year-old averaged 5.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game while shooting 52.0% from the field with both the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers.
While Simmons is no longer the All-Star caliber player that he once was, he is still a solid inside scorer and a great playmaker and defender who can play both forward positions as well as point guard.
Despite this, the Suns may hold off on Simmons due to his injury history as they continue to retool their roster around Devin Booker to build towards the future after the failure of their big three.
