Browns TE Harold Fannin Jr. injury update for Week 17 vs Steelers

The Cleveland Browns saw Harold Fannin Jr. and Dillon Gabriel get injured on Friday. A Week 17 vs Steelers update for rookie TE

The Cleveland Browns head into Week 17 versus the Pittsburgh Steelers with nothing to play for besides DE Myles Garrett’s pursuit of the single-season NFL sack record and 2026 NFL draft order positioning. Injuries were a story all week for both sides. The Browns ruled out two players while the Steelers ruled out four on Friday.

Cleveland’s elevation of QB Bailey Zappe and TE Sal Cannella from the practice squad on Saturday seemed to indicate that QB Dillon Gabriel and TE Harold Fannin Jr., both injured in Friday’s practice, wouldn’t be able to play on Sunday.

While we did not receive a report on Gabriel, both Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport noted that Fannin would play in Week 17 versus Pittsburgh. Schefter’s report noted that Fannin wouldn’t have any restrictions:

With TE David Njoku missing the game against the Steelers, potentially his last home game as a member of the Browns, Fannin will continue to be the team’s focal point in the passing offense. The rookie out of Bowling Green has been targeted a team-high 105 times this season, hauling in 70 catches for 701 yards and five touchdowns. WR Jerry Jeudy is next on the list with 93 targets, 43 receptions, and 531 yards.

Njoku is second on the team with four receiving touchdowns.

We will have the inactive reports at 11:30 AM this morning with the official word on Fannin, Gabriel, and the other six questionable players for Browns vs Steelers in Week 17.
