BYU came back from a 21-10 halftime deficit and held on late to beat Georgia Tech 25-21 in the Pop-Tarts Bowl.
BYU was without star running back LJ Martin, and Bear Bachmeier had one if his best games of the season to carry BYU. Playing in a gimpy ankle, Bear finished with 325 passing, 1 TD, and a 2-point conversion. His performance put him over 3000 passing yards on the season and earned him Pop-Tarts Bowl MVP. Senior tight end Carsen Ryan had his best game of the season with 8 receptions for 120 yards, and Parker Kingston finished with 76 receiving yards. BYU’s rushing game did just enough with 100 yards and BYU had 425 yards of total offense.
BYU’s defense came up with key plays in the second half to shut out Georgia Tech after halftime. BYU’s rushing game recovered a third down fumble to prevent a field goal attempt, blocked a field goal, and sealed the game with an end zone interception with 6 seconds left.
The win puts BYU and 12 wins in the season and is one of the best seasons in program history. BYU can now go into the offseason with some momentum and hopefully a strong preseason ranking in 2026.
