FC Bayern is on a historic run this season.
In the 2023/24 season, Bayer Leverkusen completed the Bundesliga’s first undefeated season and simultaneously ended Bayern Munich’s unprecedented run of 11 consecutive titles. That same Leverkusen team, led by Xabi Alonso, also won the DFB-Pokal and nearly went undefeated in the Europa League, only losing to Atalanta in the final.
Jonathan Tah, one of the team captains on that historic Leverkusen squad, moved to Bayern this summer on a free transfer. Based on that grueling experience, Tah believes this year’s Bayern squad can win the treble.
“The chances [of winning the treble] are good,” said Tah (via @iMiaSanMia). “FC Bayern always aspire to be title contenders in every competition. And I believe we’re now building a solid foundation to be able to compete for all the titles at the end of the season. We’re already very, very far in this process. But of course, ultimately, it all comes down to the decisive matches.”
On loan to Leverkusen that same season, Josip Stanišić scored stoppage time goals against Dortmund and Roma to extend the undefeated streak.
