Packers elevate Clayton Tune and Drake Dabney vs. Ravens

Two practice squadders are going to make their Green Bay Packers debut on Saturday.

With Green Bay Packers starting quarterback Jordan Love ruled out with a concussion against the Baltimore Ravens, Malik Willis will be serving as the team’s starter in Week 17. Backfilling for Willis as the backup quarterback in this game will be Clayton Tune, who the Packers just elevated from the practice squad to the gameday roster.

Tune signed with Green Bay after the cutdown deadline, serving as a practice squadder up to this point. In his NFL career, he’s thrown 23 passes for 70 yards (3.0 yards per attempt), zero touchdowns and two interceptions for a passer rating of 29.3. His last extended action came in November of 2023, when the Arizona Cardinals lost 27-0 to the Cleveland Browns in his lone start in the league.

Besides Tune, the Packers also brought up tight end Drake Dabney to make up for the losses of Tucker Kraft, John FitzPatrick and Ben Sims this season. Dabney will likely be in a reserve role behind Luke Musgrave and Josh Whyle. Dabney originally signed with Green Bay’s practice squad following Kraft’s ACL tear, and he hasn’t seen regular-season NFL action before.

At the moment, the Packers still have an open roster spot on the 53-man roster, so the team might not be done making adjustments to their 48-man gameday unit.
