The 2025 Golfweek Award winner for Male Amateur of the Year goes to ...

It was a special year for men's amateur golfers.

When it came to selecting Golfweek's Male Amateur of the Year, there were plenty of candidates to choose from, but one stood out among the rest. This player had a summer for the ages, one that set the stage and raised the bar for what to expect from him in the coming years.

The 2025 Golfweek Award winner for Male Amateur of the Year goes to …

Winner: Mason Howell

Mason Howell was fairly unknown in the golf world to begin the year. Then he won his U.S. Open qualifier. Then he won medalist honors at the U.S. Junior Amateur at Trinity Forest. Then he won the U.S. Amateur at Olympic Club. Then he went 2-0-1 in the Walker Cup. This summer was a coming-out party for Howell, who's the Golfweek Male Amateur of the Year. Oh, yeah, and Howell is still a senior in high school and will start college next fall at Georgia.

Honorable mention: Luke Clanton

Luke Clanton finished his amateur career winning the Ben Hogan Award and nearly winning the Fred Haskins Award. He earned his PGA Tour card as an amateur via PGA Tour University Accelerated program and was No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking for nearly an entire year.

Honorable mention: David Ford

The winner of the Fred Haskins Award, David Ford had five wins as a senior at North Carolina and finished first in the PGA Tour University Class of 2025, earning his PGA Tour card.

Honorable mention: Jackson Koivun

The current top-ranked amateur in the world has a PGA Tour card in his back pocket, but Jackson Koivun is hoping to win another national title at Auburn in the spring.
